कहते हैं की जीवन में मिठास बहुत जरुरी होती है, और हो भी क्यों न जब हमारे शरीर का ऊर्जा स्रोत ही ग्लूकोज़ है. परंतु क्या हो जब ये मीठापन व्यवहार में न होकर केवल इंसान के शरीर के भीतर रहकर ही बढ़ता चला जाये. हम बात कर रहे हैं "मधुमेह" की, जी हाँ, वही कंडीशन जिसमे शरीर के अंदर मौजूद ग्लूकोज़ की मात्रा अप्रत्याशित रूप से बढ़ जाती है.
Diabetes occurs when in pancreas in our body doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the insulin that is produced does not work properly.

आधुनिक जीवनशैली के परिणामस्वरूप दुनिया भर में मधुमेह रोगियों की संख्या दिनोदिन बढ़ती चली जा रही है. Diabetes is often considered as a silent disease because in most cases ( type 2) it doesn't have clear symptoms n hence the affected person is not even aware about the other associated problems n health related troubles which proceeds afterwards.
In order to raise awareness about Diabetes, it's Risk Factors, Signs/ Symptoms n Management options available, World Diabetes Day is observed annually on 14th November.
The Theme for this year is " Women and Diabetes " which emphasizes on the key factor that as compare to men, women are at greater risk of having Diabetes which is highlighted in the fact sheet released International Diabetes Federation (IDF) that globally there are 199 million women living with diabetes.. and it is ninth leading cause of death in women globally, causing 2.1 million deaths each year..!!!
This day also aim to Spread Awareness n Promote Healthylifestyle, n measures taken for early identification of Diabetes among all age group. It will also focus on Screening on Type 2 Diabetes, n about reducing the risk of it's complications. Acc to IDF, more than 193 million people are living with Diabetes worldwide. मधुमेह एक प्रमुख कारक है हृदय रोगों, दृष्टिहीनता, कांचबिंद, गुर्दा रोग, एवं सीवियर केसेस में limb amputation तक .
Symptoms of Diabetes/ मधुमेह के कुछ प्रमुख लक्षण हैं
Frequent urination बार बार पेशाब आना
Excessive thirst अधिक प्यास लगना
Increased hunger भूख बढ़ जाना
Weight loss वजन कम होना
Tiredness थकान
Lack of interest and concentration ध्यान-एकाग्रता की कमी
A tingling sensation or numbness in the hands or feet हाथ-पैरों में झुनझुनी सुन्नपन
Blurred vision दृष्टि धुंधली हो जाना
Frequent infections
Slow-healing wounds घाव देर से भरना
Classification of Diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes or juvenile-onset diabetes is caused by an auto-immune reaction where the body’s defence system attacks the cells that produce insulin. People with type 1 diabetes produce very little or no insulin hense they need injections of insulin every day in order to control the levels of glucose in their blood. If people with type 1 diabetes do not have access to insulin, they will die.
Type 2 diabetes or adult-onset diabetes comprise of 90% of all cases of diabetes. It is characterised by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency, either or both of which may be present at the time diabetes is diagnosed. The diagnosis of type 2 diabetes can occur at any age. This type can be manages by regular exercise and diet modification. Most people will require oral drugs and or insulin.
Gestational diabetes (GDM) is a form of diabetes consisting of high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. It develops in one in 25 pregnancies worldwide and is associated with complications to both mother and baby. GDM usually disappears after pregnancy but women with GDM and their children are at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. Approximately half of women with a history.
