स्किज़ोफ्रेनिया एक प्रकार का गंभीर मानसिक रोग है जिसमे पीड़ित व्यक्ति का व्यवहार असामान्य प्रतीत होता है और वह मतिभ्रम का शिकार हो जाता है. इस रोग से पीड़ित व्यक्ति की मानसिक क्षमता, सोचने-समझने की शक्ति तथा उसका कार्य सभी कुछ विरूपित हो जाते हैं. एक अनुमान के मुताबिक समस्त विश्व के १.५% लोग ( ५१ मिलियन) इस रोग से पीड़ित है तथा भारत में पीड़ितों की संख्या लगभग ४.३ से लेकर ८.७ मिलियन तक है.  स्किज़ोफ्रेनिआ के लक्षण सामान्यतः वयस्क व्यक्तियों में दिखाए देते है, परन्तु कुछ केसेस में यह किशोरों में भी होती है.  स्किज़ोफ्रेनिआ के कुछ मुख्य लक्षण इस प्रकार हैं: 1. पॉजिटिव सिम्टम्स : अर्थात वे पहचान  चिन्ह हो सिर्फ इसी रोग से ग्रासिक व्यक्ति में परिलक्षित होते हैं, जैसे - a) Delusion/डिल्यूज़न :  भ्रान्ति या भ्रमित विचार जिनका वास्तविकता से कोई सरोकार न हो  b) हैलुसिनेशन:   - उन सेन्सेशन्स का एहसास होना जो रियलिटी में है ही नही जैसे कोई काल्पनिक आकृति या इंसान का दिखाई देना types of schizophrenia (image:livesmartworksmart) - अलग-अलग प्रकार की आवाज़े
