Stimming, short for self-stimulatory behavior, is a common characteristic observed in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  These are characterized by repetitive behaviors, such as hand-flapping, rocking, or vocalizing, serve as a way for children to self-regulate, cope with sensory overload, or express emotions.
